Workout Music - Cool Down Physically and Emotionally
Posted by ya boy K and T | | Thursday, October 9, 2008at 8:10 PM | Labels: workout motivation, workout music
It's over. Your muscles are completely broke down. It hurts, I know. But we can't just take a shower and go about our day; not yet at least. You gotta cool down. Do some easy motions to pump the lactic acid out and then move into stretching. I got the playlist that's gonna bring that adrenaline down. Just like Slipknot will raise that adrenaline, this will unleash the quiet storm.
Real Folk Blues - Seatbelts
If I could get more songs like this one, I'd be so happy. It's in Japanese I think but I seem to understand what it's trying to say. Actually, I don't know what it's saying but I know it's sad. It's the blues. It's the Real Folk Blues. At the end it really breaks it down when it brings the guitar in doing some power chords or something. All I know is that's it's legendary and it will take you outta the explosive mindset. Just relax....
If you Go - John Secada
It's a love song, so what. When I'm working out, I'm not thinking about love. I'm thinking about hate, conflict, and pain. Haha, not really, but it's just that my workouts are stoic and powerful. But maybe love can be the motivation behind my workouts....maybe I can use the power of love to propel my adrenaline? Hmmm.... nah that's too soft....Ima stick with Rage Against the Machine. But when I want to cool down, I'm going to choose John Secada. Check out this legend.
You Might Win - Kem
I just heard of this guy. This song is a good one. It's a very soft one and embodies the term "Quiet Storm". He reminds me of Sade. He's a great singer, and will take you to a special place in your mind called "Calm Down". You'll be so relaxed after hearing him, that you will actually stop and smell the roses. If you live in a highly urban area, you will stop and smell the car pollution. Either way, it's so beatiful; kinda.
Make It Last Forever - Keith Sweat
Songs like this make me wish I could sing. Keith Sweat makes it cool to whine to women about love. You may need to watch out for this song. It will put you in a loving mood real quick. Be sure to prepare yourself properly by listening to something harder before jumping right into this. This warning is for the guys, if you listen to too much Keith Sweat you will see a significant drop in your testosterone levels. Just putting it out there. But maybe I'm just hating because I can't sing like him. Dang, yeah that's it...I'm a hata
Oh Shooter - Robin Thicke
This is one you can listen to immediately after your "hell march". Actually, go ahead and get the remix with Lil Wayne in it. You see, it's not too soft, not too hard; like Raisinettes, in fact exactly like Raisenettes. This song does a nice job of integrating gunfire with the beat. This song was so good, I thought that it had to be a remake; you know most of the good songs today are remakes of originals ones. I couldn't find an old one though. Big ups to Robin Thicke for making a great cool down song. I know that's exactly what he wanted it to be.
Two Occasions - Babyface
You know I had to throw 'Face in here; another "cool Casanova". Babyface's song reaches deep into a lovers heart and an athletes aching muscles. Once there, he rhythmically massages the inner fibers tears and actually speeds recovery. Of course the FDA hasn't approved these claims as facts but is love ever about facts? No! Stop seeing things so logically! Just open your heart for once! But I digress, the lyrics in this song are unaffected by time. "I only think of you on two occasions, that's day and night". Love is the best cooldown.
So, stop ending the workout in a rage. Calm yourself mentally, physically, and musically with these tunes. Down to the Load.
Oh, sometimes you may want to cool down on a high note. Check out my other post called, Workout Music: Victory Songs
